years. Founded in 1918 by five engineering societies
and three government agencies,the Institute remains
a private, non-profit membership organization supported

ISO (International Standards Organization)
The ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards
bodies from some 130 countries. The mission of ISO
is to promote the development of standardization
and related activities in the world while facilitating
the international exchange of goods and services,

scientific, technological and economic activity.
Cabling standards is a very small part of the ISO's
total interests.
